Day 3 on the trek, left out of Namche Bizarre and ended in Khumjung Village at 12,500 ft. Gained 1500 in elevation and trekked 2.37 miles. Our guide has his own tea house here and will be here for two nights with an Acclimation climb tomorrow to 14,000 feet. The views today along the trail were spectacular.
Khumjung means hidden valley, nestled between the Himalayan Mts. Very quiet Village and they love their walls. Miles of stone walls for no apparent reason. But after watching the locals, their existence and their religion is their purpose. They all seem very happy! Back to the walls, the purpose is their way of dealing with idle hands. They are master wall builders! Walls, walls and more walls.
Pema was very proud to share his home with us. He has such an interesting story I will share later. He has ascended Mt Everest three times. He is 65 and still walks the trails impressively.
