Mules rule!

Trek begins today! Stayed in a Tea House overnight, no heat of course but plenty of blankets to stay warm, my guess is it was in the lower 30’s but has warmed up during the hike. I wondered why so many dogs were sleeping in the streets. Well it’s because they are up all night barking and howling. I will find my ear plugs tonight.

Weather was nice, we got checked in with our hiking permits and off we went. Trails are pretty busy but tomorrow we reach a point where it splits into 3 directions so should thin out. There are many Sherpa villages along the way so it’s interesting seeing the families and all have stores and place to rest and eat. Our stop for lunch in a charming in Phakding at the Tribeni Lodge at 2610 meters.
Guide says this is a baby mountain, Kangtega it's not Everest but it’s 22,251ft.
                                                                      Trailhead Entry

Had a good day hiking, many interesting villages, and lots of trekkers on the trails. We covered about 8.25 miles in 6 hours not too much actual elevation change as the trails were up and down.

Our Porter carrying bags and supplies
                                                                               Supper!
                                                                250 Pounds on their back!
                                                   Stupa - Buddhist architectural Monument
                                                                       Lower Valley
                                                                        Swing Bridge
                                                              Rivers from the mountains

Mules were a common trail companion, the locals use them to move everything up and down the mountain. There are no roads so when their packs come thru, you move out of the way….Mules rule!

All the trail animals have bells around their necks
