DOHA the Capital of Qatar

I must say Qatar business class did not disappoint! I don’t normally allow myself this kind of luxury, my friends at the dog park were so right, their service, food, and comfort are first class! The food is as good as any upscale restaurant I’ve been to. They really cover every detail even providing sleepwear. These pods are quite nice. I hope I can transition back to my normal back of the plane seating, so far I have only upgraded this long leg of my flight, it’s nearly 14 hours but worth every cent.

DOHA airport in Qatar has to be the biggest completely new airport in the world….Massive. Robert and I decided to venture out on their tram system to an area in the city called Souq Waqif. Today happened to be a religious holiday that is celebrated by Muslims worldwide because it marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan. So this market area was very busy. We took in some great Persian food, walked the alleys of shops and headed back to the airport for our final leg to Kathmandu.

The golden Thumb
This airport is over the top!
                                                      Looked like an important meeting.
Lots of shops and vendors doing good business.
                                                                A typical Persian meal.
The market streets were so much busier the later it got.
                                                                Inside the restaurant.
                                                             Entry to the restaurant.
A Mosque just on the edge of the market area.

I’m operating on 4 hours of sleep in the last 36 hours so my body battery running low. Our first day in Kathmandu is tomorrow. One final thought, my entire time in DOHA I have not seen one single police or security personnel, it feels extremely safe here contrary to how you might think it would be.

  2. I enjoyed the same experience in that business class. I agree with every single thing you said. That’s really cool that you were able to venture out of the airport into the city. - Kristina
